Pride is a hell of a drug! Newt’s pride wins in Florida lost
After Newt Gingrich’s lost to Mitt Romney in the Florida primary Tuesday, Newt’s pride became a visible flaw. Newt’s pride wouldn’t allow him to do the standard, stand-up congratulatory call to the winner. Romney said in an interview that in all his previous primary victories, all GOP candidates called to congratulate him in his wins, well all but Newt.
Pride is a hell of a drug; when not used correctly, pride can control you and have you do things that are not rational or well thought out. Newt’s has shown that he will let his pride get in the way of being the better man or being more presidential. Yes, Romney had attack ads that didn’t go over so well with Newt; yes, Romney may have said things in debates that Newt may have believed to be lies, but in a presidential race, Newt still must man up! Man up and say, ‘you got on that one but I’ll get you on the next one’.
Question. Will Newt’s pride allow him to gracefully exit out the primaries when it becomes obvious the GOP and voters are backing Romney to run against Obama or will Newt’s pride make him do a “Nader”?
For me, when I see pride get the best of a person over and over again, it makes me back away. Pride can be worst than cocaine, it’s stitched into our personalities, pride has made men, countries not except defeat and cause many to die unnecessarily. Pride has devastated families; pride keeps a man from saying two simple words to make things better, “I’m sorry”. Pride is a hell of a drug!
Another thing I’ve noticed is it seems the GOP primaries are becoming the place where life-long enemies are formed. The 2000 primaries had George W. Bush and John McCain become sworn enemies and now it seems Gingrich and Romney will definitely not be doing a night out in Vegas together. What will future GOP primaries bring, duels to the death?

Pride is the most addictive of all drugs. It’s the true gateway drug.
Hmm. You think pride? I don’t know. I didn’t see the debate so I can’t say but I am seeing a lot of “ego” accusations thrown against him. It could very well be his downfall, although I also know that he’s done some very humble things too, so perhaps it’s campaign based pride.
But … I have to confess, it would be nice if some of that pride was directed toward our country! I’m so sick of the current “apology tour” that’s been going on since Jan 08.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out. We get to vote in our primary next month and I still don’t know who I’ll be punching the card for.
